New lens

One lens to rule them all.

That was my intention when I bought this Tamron 18-300mm (f3.5 - f6.3). No need to swap out lenses when travelling anymore, which should reduce the amount of equipment I bring.

The results were initially acceptable, but the more I used it, the more I found that the soft images were becoming an issue. They are unacceptably soft. To the degree that I ended up returning the lens.

While the flexibility is excellent (having 16x zoom), if you look closely at the details, they are all fuzzy.

The best shot i got with it.

I dont really think the super soft look is that bad, but its something that I want to be able to control. It does help a lot with skin texture, but unfortunately you cannot recover details when its this soft. You can always make a sharp photo softer in post processing.

Zoom range is impressive, but detail/contrast/vibrance is lacking

Sorry Tamron, youre going back.
