Time dilation

Life gets busy. Sometimes real busy. Since March, it seems like an endless rollercoaster of activities, work, and travel. It’s been so busy that I really haven’t gone out to take photos.

I took my mom on a cruise again this year, and I was expecting to get some amazing sealife shots. Instead, I got buckus other than this shot of some pelicans flying in formation. 5 days on that boat and me spending 4-5hours starring out at the ocean every day hoping to see a breach, or a tail, or anything for that matter.

My wife messaged me while I was on my cruise, and she said a pod of orcas were spotted underneath the Lions Gate Bridge. You mean I could have stayed home and had a higher chance of seeing Whales? ugh.

The food is always amazing on cruises and you have ample time to contemplate your life. After a few days at sea, you start craving the monotony of work and home. When you are on vacation, time really REALLY slows down. The 5 days felt like an eternity.

Seeing this pilot boat arrive meant that we were almost home and after spending 5 days at sea, it’s nice to be back on land. I was wobbling around everywhere for a week as you get used to riding the surf. I realized after this trip that long days in the open ocean aren’t exactly my thing. Might have to rethink the whole yacht retirement life. I only enjoy puttering around close to shore where there are things to see and do. The bleakness of the vast ocean is frankly boring.
