First photography workshop

I’ve never been to a photography workshop before. Yesterday was the first time, and it was quite fun and illuminating (pardon the pun). The instructor/presenter was a professional photographer from Richmond. He’s been shooting professionally since 1995 and has had quite a few companies use his photos for their advertisments/promo/covers. I was honoured to have him critique and review my portfolio.

I have another one of these workshops coming up in Feb and one more in March. You really do learn quite a bit from other people in the field. Even tips on scouting locations and the seasonality of wildlife were extremely useful. I didn’t know that the snowy owl population was chased away by us photographers disturbing their habitat during the pandemic. That’s incredibly sad. Now they haven’t been spotted in the GVRD for a few years.
